Press Release:
Reaching To Embrace Arts (RTEA) and the Don O'Melveny Gallery present
"Rtea-facts for Kids," opening December 5 and continuing
through December 31.
The exhibit -- featuring the donated works of both established and
emerging
artists as well as contributions from actors, directors, and other
luminaries
such as Jeff Bridges, Michael Moore, Leelee Sobieski, and Mike Figgis
-- seeks
to raise money to buy art supplies for under-funded art programs in
Los Angeles public schools and youth organizations. The show kicks
off on Saturday December 6th with a fundraising bash.
The Dec. 6th opening party for "Rtea-facts for Kids" will
not only be hosted
inside the Don O'Melveny Gallery in West Hollywood -- it will also
be a rooftop
affair. In addition to more art, a video show, and goodies, the roof
party will
feature live music courtesy of Abstract Rude, the Beverly Hills Wind
Trio,
Edit, Attached by Wires, Justin Sloe, Michael Scot, Alien D, and special
guests.
Reaching to Embrace Arts was established this year by Elizabeth Tran
and fellow
arts supporters with a mission to "to enrich and inspire art
endeavors for
inner-city youth." At Castelar Elementary School, RTEA donated
art supplies to
students to take home for the summer. With items ranging from pastels
and
canvas to glitter and sidewalk chalk, students were encouraged to
create works on the theme of "what you see in nature." More
recently, RTEA donated a digital video camera to the Echo Park Film
Center.
Among the artists included are:
Anthony Ausgang, Mike Figgis, Robbie Conal, Nathan Spoor, John Van
Hamersveld, Michael Moore, Mear One, Blaine Fontana, Jeff Bridges,
Eugenie Jolivett, Shogo Minamikawa, Wilson Hsu, Chaz Bojorquez, Leelee
Sobieski, Brandon Herrick, Brady Redman, Richard Duardo, Van Arno,
Frank Diettinger, Sandow Birk, Freddi C, Sandra Low, and Rachel Schmeidler
