I
was born in Long Beach in 1973. I started painting when I was six
years old. I graduated high school in 1991, and attended Humboldt
State Univ for my BFA in ceramics, graduated, and travelled on a round
the world ticket, and saw a good portion of our world alone.
I returned to the states, worked for a few years, and moved to Buenos
Aires, Argentina to teach English and make art. Surrounded by the
phenomenal art of South American artists, I took inspiration as vitamins
each day.
I returned once again to the states in summer of 2001, and began to
seek an MFA degree at CSULB.
My work focuses on the textures and decomposition of the present world,
on stories from faraway voices on the outskirts of the social norm,
incorporating story with image, people as my number one inspiration.
My art seeks to trick the eye, confusing the expectation of two-dimensiallity
with relief of the objects and subjects depicted. My work strives
to move our horizon. |
