The Lego® inspired works are designed to be fun, and convey a clear message. It is not until the observer is visually seduced, that they realize there is more there than meets the eye. I want to capture the viewer's attention, engage them with the multi-layered conceptualization, and have them suddenly realize one of the underlying scenarios.

Sometimes this approach is obvious, at other times the scenario is more subtle. In the piece Webocide, I convey my opinion of the Lego® company and/or its legal representatives as iconic bullies. Although guilty as charged of cybersquatting under the Anti-Cybersquatting Protection Act (ACPA), I still felt the need to revolt in my own way; with artistic expression. This is what happened. I had a website which I called Legofucker.com. Lego® did not like this and had their attorneys issue a cease and desist letter. They did not want me using their name in conjunction with the word "fucker", but in actuality, it didn't matter what word it was associated with, it was illegal to use their registered brand name. I complied, but not without gaining the inspiration for another piece of art, which I titled "Webocide". As an artist, I understood the need to protect the laws guarding intellectual properties, however I felt as if Lego® was dictating and controlling how I chose to identify my art. I had no legal recourse, but I used Webocide to express this resentment. In this piece of work, every visual statement has a personal meaning for me. The title Webocide, is a combination of the words website and genocide. This deals with the similarity between the SS soldiers of Hitler's armies who sought out the Jews for annihilation in WWII, and Lego's® legal staff who seek out cybersquatters. I have modified my website name accordingly, and I can now be found at www.plasticfucker.com.
Heads are an approach toward using my design skills to streamline the unique characteristics of a particular musical celebrity, using my own humor and interpretation. The heads have been a realization of my skills as I approach each musician as an exercise in exploration of facial features, skin tone, nuance, and personality. Establishing a set format, I have challenged myself to develop a large collection of graphically illustrated Heads, which have also been fun as hell to create.
