Born in the jungles of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but a native to Los
Angeles, California, Wilson Hsu now currently resides in Culver City
after graduating from Otis College of Art and Design in Illustration.
At a tender early age as afar as he can remember he has always been
taken by the Visual Arts. Artists who have inspired him in the past
and present are ones such as Van Gogh, Warhol, Basquiat, CY Twombly,
and the Clayton Brothers. Wilson’s art is described to be fictionally
playful with dazzling colors that are sprinkled and decorated with
a grotesque, organic twist of melon collie. His stew interlaces the
world of fashion accessories galore, the Sci-Fi futurism of Alice’s
Wonderland, to the simply fruitful organic shapes of nature. Incorporating
the things that he loves and hates in this world, he uses only the
Low-Fi technologies of Flash and his home printer to create a Hi-Fi
complex form of art. Mixing digital media with a hand touch leaves
the viewer feeling “what the hell, how did he do that?”
He has done numerous shows involving the Cannibal Flower productions
and local small coffee shops within the LA area, (which he enjoys
doing very much.) In his spare time he works full time at Puzzle Zoo
on the 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica insuring that the spoiled
kids of America get the toys they want. He also reads spiritual and
comic books and rents lots of foreign, cult and Documentary DVD’s
these days. |
