 |
At the age of ten, Brandon
competed in and won an architectural design contest open to fourth
through twelfth grade students. It was quite an upset for his fellow
finalists who were all in high school. Coming off this big win, Brandon
continued his love of design throughout primary and secondary school.
His work led to a bachelor’s degree with honors in Environmental
Design from Otis College of Art and Design in 2002. While at Otis,
Herrick received the Abraham Bolsky scholarship and the National Arts
Association scholarship.
In reference to his work, Brandon synthesizes art and design to incorporate
many forces that enrich his work with a sensibility that expresses
spatiality and depth, while retaining a graphic quality. Folding together
both two-dimensional and three-dimensional conditions, the work explores
different perceptions of the relationships between virtual and natural,
evolution, our future and our past.
Mr. Herrick is currently a project designer for R&D Architects
in Venice, California. In addition, he is a working artist and an
inspiration to ten-year-olds everywhere. |
