Statement
RTEA, a not-for-profit organization, is Reaching to Embrace Arts by
adopting public schools and providing essential art supplies to harness
and realize the creative potential of every student. We firmly believe
that no child should be denied access to a dynamic arts curriculum.
In partnership with students, parents, educators, artists, policy
makers, business leaders, and the community at large, RTEA seeks to
bypass social and economic barriers by generating new opportunities
to nurture creativity in the present while building skills for the
future.
RTEA represents a collaboration of volunteers with backgrounds ranging
from public service, private enterprise, educators, artists, and altruists
concerned with the declining state of arts education in our community.
The group focuses its activities in several areas including:
• Fundraising to provide material support to
public school art programs and community organizations that support
art activity.
• Creating awareness campaigns highlighting
the magnitude of under funding experienced by art programs in the
Nation, State, and the city of Los Angeles.
•Educating parents and instructors on the positive
impact art education has in the development of their children.
•Supporting community outreach programs to
teach, inspire, and encourage youth participation in all mediums of
the arts.
•Connecting educators, parents, and students
in the inner city to resources, institutions and/or organizations
that may help further the creative path of their children.
